El Covid-19 ha tomado por completo nuestras vidas. Literal para los miles de personas que han muerto, los demás seguimos secuestrados. Aunque parecía que empezábamos a ver una disminución en los contagios, algunos Estados están reportando un repunte en los números.

En Estados Unidos en marzo 3,809 personas murieron por Covid-19; en abril hubo 57 mil 137 muertos. A finales de mayo la cifra casi se duplicó con 102 mil 900 muertes, y al día de hoy tenemos 121 mil 500 muertos. Ojo que estoy hablando de número de muertos.

Hasta ahora Estados Unidos está en el primer lugar a nivel mundial tanto de muertos como de contagios con 2 millones 255 mil.

Igual que en México, tenemos una crisis de liderazgo con presidentes que dan un pésimo ejemplo al no usar cubrebocas y andar de gira, además que aquí mucha gente no cree que este virus es real o que sea tan peligroso.

Aunque Estados Unidos tiene un sistema de salud muy fuerte con médicos y enfermeras muy competitivos, no hay claridad de nada en la información. El gobierno se niega a reconocer que hay un problema grave diciendo que “vamos muy bien”.

Las teorías de cómo y por qué se propagó el virus son muchas. Que si los chinos lo hicieron a propósito, que si es una conspiración de los Clinton, que si las conspiraciones del Nuevo Orden Mundial. Que si no es cierto que la gente se está muriendo porque no vemos los cuerpos, que si todo es “fake news”.

Lo que sí es cierto es que hay un colapso económico y social. Una amiga me platicó que las funerarias de Nueva York están en crisis. Hay personas que murieron hace dos o tres semanas y los cuerpos no ha podido ser entregados a sus familias, y mucho menos han podido ser enterrados.

El número de desempleados bajó a 20 millones y la mayoría de las tiendas y fábricas han reabierto sus puertas casi en su totalidad. Los empleados que siguen sin trabajo están recibiendo pago de seguro por desempleo con un estímulo extra de 600 dólares por semana que durará hasta finales de julio.

Las escuelas del país estarán cerradas hasta el próximo año escolar, con clases de verano solamente en línea. Las ceremonias y bailes de graduación se han suspendido en la mayoría de los distritos escolares. Y no hay certeza de cómo empezaremos a dar clases en agosto.

Algunas escuelas están hablando de empezar con clases en línea, otras de que la asistencia de estudiantes sea cada tercer día para tener menos niños en los salones, mientras los maestros nos preguntamos cómo enseñaremos con un tapabocas en la cara.

En Florida, Arizona, Texas y California están viendo un repunte en los números de contagios. En donde se reportan los hospitales llenos a su máxima capacidad, sin embargo, mucha gente sigue sin usar mascarilla, y muy pocos gobiernos estatales como Nueva York y muy recientemente Arizona han hecho el uso de la misma obligatorio.

Sea cierto o no el Covid-19 ha afectado la manera en como vivimos. La politización de este, la falta y exceso de información y desinformación no ayudan al bienestar del país y de mundo, pero mientras que esto es o no es, hay que tomar precauciones de los dos lados del muro.
